Last year, a highly underrated puzzle-filled 2D cooperative platformer for Wii U debuted. However, that was only the first episode. Now that the whole journey is available with the final 2 episodes included, let's see how the entire soulful adventure holds up.

Episode 2: Nophes

A little over a year ago, I reviewed 3Souls - Episode 1: Nelesa and wondered when episodes 2 and 3 will come out. Now that they're both available (at no extra cost), I'm delighted that I can finally experience the full 3Souls campaign. This second episode stars Nophes and it takes place in a futuristic neon city which is a huge departure from Nelesa's journey. I must admit, I stumbled a lot trying to get through the first couple of screens but once I became accustomed to the obscure puzzle dynamic yet again, everything started to click. I found myself tilting the GamePad at awkward angles while holding specific buttons to unlock doors, mastering weird arcade mini-games, and trying to figure out numeric combinations for a couple of terminals. Once I made progress, the feeling of satisfaction was unmatched thanks to the extremely tricky yet doable puzzles. Good job, devs! v1d30chumz 100-24-118-144

Nidemon better buy some comfortable running shoes for his taxing tale!

Episode 3: Nidemon

Nidemon's journey in this third episode is a bit less puzzle-oriented and a lot more reliant on your speed. Basically, you have to master a succession of floors that each involves a blend of platforming and puzzles. You have to do so with utmost precision and efficiency because the time limits are very strict. As a result, I found the repetition of attempting each floor over and over again while mastering it to get a bit tedious. That being said, once I managed to complete a tough segment and move on, it felt awesome!

8 Seconds of Nindies

Indie game fans loved the fact that 3Souls contained a hidden mini-game upon its initial release where you guessed which game an 8 second sound clip is from. Thankfully, 8 Seconds of Nindies has been expanded upon in this completed version of 3Souls as dozens of titles have entered the mix. To pinpoint where each track originated, you'd have to be quite a huge Nindie fan.

I hope Nophes' hands are big enough to cover all those buttons on his Wii U GamePad

3Souls has to be one of the most underrated games of all time. If you own a Wii U then do yourself a favour and head over to the eShop to download this super-satisfying puzzle-filled package as soon as you can. It's surprisingly inexpensive and for the amount of enjoyable content that you get (including a co-op multiplayer mode), you'd be silly not to give it a try.
