With so many incredible games releasing in 2020, allow me to take a look at the very best exclusive titles for each major console.
Note: there haven't been many PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X exclusives yet so we've decided to leave them out of this year's awards.
Ghost of Tsushima PlayStation 4 Exclusive of the Year
After having won our AAA Game of the Year, Ghost of Tsushima is surely the best PS4 exclusive of 2020. With its epic grand-scale story set in a sprawling and captivating world complete with an amazing variety of gameplay elements, open-world games won't ever be the same. In other words, Ghost of Tsushima is the new gold standard and it will be quite some time before a better game releases.Ghost of Tsushima Review Award image →
Marvel's Iron Man VR PlayStation VR Game of the Year
Considering the wide assortment of VR games that came out in 2020, it's impressive that Marvel's Iron Man VR managed to remain ahead of the pack. Its action-packed and fluid gameplay is unlike anything I've ever experienced for the platform and it strikes that perfect balance between arcade-style fun and narrative-driven adventure. I hope there will be a sequel at some point down the road!Marvel's Iron Man VR Review Award image →
Deep Rock Galactic Xbox One Exclusive of the Year
Out of all the Xbox One exclusives released over the past year, Deep Rock Galactic stood out to me as the best. The combination of online cooperative gameplay, roguelike elements, and clever mechanics make progressing through the ranks as a miner in the depths of space an absolute treat. Just make sure you don't get left behind on an expedition and you'll have a great time with this gem.Deep Rock Galactic Review Award image →
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Switch Exclusive of the Year
As a remake of quite possibly the best Wii game ever created, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a supremely enjoyable and lengthy RPG adventure that features a brilliant cast of characters, incredible combat mechanics, and an epic story that'll keep you immersed in its large world's many memorable environments for dozens upon dozens of hours. On top of all that awesome stuff, the new story content and the fact that you can seamlessly play it portability with smooth performance are the icing on the cake.Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Review Award image →
DualSense Wireless Controller Controller of the Year
Although I don't award a controller of the year every year, the DualSense Wireless Controller absolutely blew me away and it continues to be my favourite controller ever. Seeing as I've been a gamer for over 30 years, it's saying a lot that this piece of hardware is the most comfortable, responsive, well-designed, and immersive controller that I've ever wrapped my hands around. Congrats, Sony!PlayStation 5 Accessories Roundup Award image →
