I finally got one; yay!

It's been a while since Xbox Series X debuted but I now have one so why not talk about it? Here's what I think of Microsoft's latest.

Out with the old
A short while ago, my Xbox One X broke and I still can't figure out how to fix it. After trying many different potential solutions, it refuses to turn on. So, it was a stressful time not knowing what save data or games I wouldn't be able to access again. I also didn't know whether I should just get a new console or not but I ended up getting an Xbox Series X anyway and I'm quite happy that I did. However, I have to say goodbye to my Kinect games since that sucker doesn't work with Xbox Series X but that's a small sacrifice for a much better system. Before we move on, let's have a brief moment of silence for all of the fallen Kinect games. v1d30chumz 3-235-186-94
Kinect gamesIn with the new
When I got an Xbox Series X, I knew I was in for a next-gen experience and that's just what I got. Having played the PlayStation 5 over the past couple of years, the performance and graphical prowess of Xbox Series X doesn't quite wow me as I've already been spoiled with current generation visuals but it is definitely a step up from the previous generation. I'm specifically looking forward to playing first-party Xbox games that are optimized for Xbox Series X such as Gears 5. I've already played a bit of Forza Horizon 5 and it was awesome to see how much better it is on Xbox Series X. I'm also looking forward to trying out future releases such as Senua's Saga: Hellblade II; oh, and I should probably play Microsoft Flight Simulator soon, too! That's on Game Pass, right? Nice! 😄

A smooth transition
So far, the best aspect of Xbox Series X that has impressed me most is how smooth of a transition it was going from Xbox One X. Remember I said that I was worried about my save data and game collection? Well, I had nothing to worry about because all of my save data is floating around in a cloud somewhere and it magically got zapped into my Xbox Series X so I can keep playing Touhou Luna Nights, NieR: Automata, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps with no problem whatsoever.
Not only that, I figured I should try to plug in my Xbox One X external hard drive into the Xbox Series X and guess what? I can play all of the games on it right away! Well, except for ones with next-gen update patches but those are worth the wait anyway.
Quick Resume
One feature that I discovered completely by accident is Quick Resume. Basically, I started one game while another game was suspended without realising it then I thought, "Hey, how come it didn't ask me to quit that other game?" The answer is because I didn't have to. Now, I can let my penguin cousins play a few rounds of Extreme Exorcism when I'm in the middle of a Psychonauts 2 level.
Controller and share button
Another swanky aspect of Xbox Series X is its new controller. I appreciate its 3D dots that are all over the grips and it has a smooth-as-butter D-pad to boot. However, the greatest feature of all is the share button. Considering I review games and a lot of them, being able to tap a button to take a screenshot is super-convenient. I even customised the controller settings so I can double-tap the share button to start and stop recording a video which matches my PS5 so that's great. Even with all of these welcome aspects of the new controller, am I allowed to say that I still prefer the DualSense? Sorry, it remains my favourite controller of all time. 😅

Well, that's what I think of Xbox Series X so far. I can't wait to review a lot of games on it and share more about this awesome console! Are there any features that I'm overlooking? Drop a comment below as I'll be happy to get even more out of my Xbox Series X. 😊
