Skelattack 2D Platformer of the Month

It may be a Metroidvania but Skelattack also features plenty of tricky and rewarding platforming scenarios. Using its vast array of cool abilities to traverse its grueling stages makes for one incredible game and its cartoonish visuals bring its memorable world to life. v1d30chumz 35-175-107-185

Shantae and the Seven Sirens Metroidvania of the Month

I love Shantae and her latest adventure is set within a fantastically intricate Metroidvania map that's rather exciting to explore. Earning new abilities only to be able to accomplish cool feats such as revive dead trees, shift room layouts, dig through soft ground, dash from walls after clinging to them, and even triple-jump is just awesome then uncovering more of the map with these abilities to discover rewarding collectibles makes it all exceptionally satisfying. Factor in a fantastic cast of characters as well as delightful visuals and you're left with one stand-out Metroidvania that's hard to put down. I can't wait to see what WayForward creates next!

Summer in Mara Casual Game of the Month

Summer in Mara is likely the most underrated indie game from June as its captivating world that's filled with fun quests unfortunately flew under many gamers' radars so if you enjoy laidback adventures then do yourself a favour and play this brilliant gem of a game.

Edna & Harvey: The Breakout - Anniversary Edition Adventure Game of the Month

Originally releasing on PC last year, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout - Anniversary Edition is now available for console and it's the funniest and most complex point-and-click adventure game that I've ever played. I definitely recommend it to any fan of the genre.

Brigandine The Legend of Runersia RPG of the Month

Brigandine The Legend of Runersia is a sequel to a hidden gem that released for PS1 over 20 years ago. If you like strategy games then the many layers of its gameplay are sure to impress, especially if you enjoy gradually watching the results of your actions unfold.

Atomicrops Roguelike of the Month

Here's another hidden gem that blew me away. Atomicrops not only looks fantastic, its blend of raising crops and twin-stick shooting really got its hooks in me. This is definitely one to play for anyone who likes unique gameplay formulas and it's a ton of fun, too.

Rigid Force Redux Shoot 'em Up of the Month

Very few modern shmups actually capture the spirit of an era as well as Rigid Force Redux. I grew up playing games like Einhänder, R-Type Final, and Silpheed and this game is as authentic as you can get for recreating the excellence of these classic 3D shoot 'em ups.

Urban Trial Tricky Score Chaser of the Month

If you're like me then you love retrying stages in games while trying to climb the leaderboards and one such game that stands out from June is Urban Trial Tricky. It had my palms sweating as I gripped the controller while performing all sorts of stunts. Great stuff!

What the Golf Sports Game of the Month

Is What the Golf a sports game? Well, it's hard to assign it a genre as it's one of the most ridiculous indies to release in recent memory. Flinging all sorts of objects towards your goal is a blast and each stage is so unique that every kind of gamer can have a lot of fun.

Project Warlock Retro-Inspired Game of the Month

If you played first-person shooters back in the early '90s then you're in for quite a nostalgia trip with Project Warlock. Its super-challenging magic-based gameplay and spot-on retro aesthetics will have you trying to beat its tricky stages over and over again.

Moonlighter: Between Dimensions DLC of the Month

Since it released, Moonlighter received many updates and the Between Dimensions DLC offers even more content with its challenging Wanderer Dungeon which features its own story, bosses, equipment, and it takes almost as long to beat as the main game.

Holy Potatoes! What the Hell?! Indie Game of the Month

Our overall indie game of the month is Holy Potatoes! What the Hell?! which is as nutritious as it is delicious. No game this year had me laughing out loud as much as this did and its gameplay is surprisingly intricate and multifaceted, too. A true complete meal of an indie!
