Has it been another month already? Yes and you know what that means; it's time to celebrate another batch of excellent indie games.

A.J. has been obsessively gaming since the late '80s and is just as passionate about video games in 2022. 🐻

Cursed to Golf Roguelike of the Month

2D golf games are a lot of fun but what if you were to add a roguelike structure that makes mastering each hole an exciting experience? Well, you get Cursed to Golf which is a very energetic and random golf game with plenty of charm to spare. ⛳ v1d30chumz 44-210-77-106

I wonder if this is what Arnold Palmer is doing right now

Shovel Knight Dig Platformer of the Month

As a big fan of the original Shovel Knight, I'm very happy that not only has there been a ton of DLC for the first game but Yacht Club Games has been busy producing some entertaining spin-offs as well. After the incredible puzzle game Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, we now have Shovel Knight Dig which offers the same 2D gameplay of the original yet with a roguelike setup where you try to dig as deep as possible. Plus, the upgraded 16-bit presentation fits the action perfectly so if you want more Shovel Knight, this is a must-have. 💎

Mixolumia Puzzle Game of the Month

Mixolumia is one of those puzzlers that's easy to overlook while browsing the old eShop but definitely don't because you certainly won't regret playing this high score-chasing mind-bending tile-matching game that you'll want to go back to again and again. 💠

I may not be the best at Mixolumia but it sure is fun

Potion Permit Adventure Game of the Month

If you already enjoy games like Rune Factory then this indie take on old-school exploration and alchemy will provide hours of chill fun. Potion Permit is not only a lovely game to look at; you'll also make plenty of delightful friends along the way. ⚗️

Hokko Life Casual Game of the Month

Speaking of chill games, Hokko Life is bursting with slow-paced activities and lovely animal chums that will be very familiar to any Animal Crossing fan. However, it definitely forges its own identity and you'll be especially impressed by its in-depth crafting system. 🏡

RAILGRADE Strategy Game of the Month

Laying railroad tracks in order to transport goods is a solid premise but when RAILGRADE's gameplay opens up to new strategic possibilities, it quickly becomes a phenomenally rewarding stage-based game where tweaking your solutions to perfection is a joy. 🛤️

Fairy Elements RPG of the Month

I thoroughly enjoy playing indie retro-style RPGs and Fairy Elements is one of the best. The fact that it ditches random battles in favour of encountering enemies as you approach them is great and optimizing your party is a superbly rewarding treat so check it out! 🧚

Game Type DX Shoot 'em Up of the Month

Game Type DX may be a sarcastic take on the awful old Xbox 360 dashboard but it's an impressively fun shoot 'em up, too, that makes achieving high scores and climbing the leaderboards within its various modes a blast thanks to its solid mechanics and fast pace. 🦀

Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince Retro-Inspired Game of the Month

I love the original Blossom Tales and this sequel continues its greatness beautifully. Clearly inspired by the classic Zelda games, Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince makes it a joy to progress through its tricky puzzles and elaborate dungeons and it's very cute to boot! 👧

Hey, guys; can I join?

Ooblets Indie Game of the Month

Finally, the best indie game from September 2022 is Ooblets. Beginning as an early access title available for Xbox, this silly game has developed into one outstanding experience over time. From its cheerful dance battles to its surprisingly immersive story with unexpected twists along the way, collecting Ooblets as you venture forth makes for one of the most fulfilling gaming experiences of the year. 😊
