Just like zombies themselves, Frank West's latest adventure keeps rising from the dead. This latest iteration combines all of the previously available content plus a cool new addition so get ready to kill some zombies... again!
Dead Rising 4
Although Dead Rising 4 has been a rather divisive game, it still has its audience. The crazy sense of humour as shown through Frank West's no holds barred attitude is back full throttle so long-time fans of the series are sure to delight in a few laughs as they bash zombies' heads in. Speaking of which, the gameplay is as addictive as ever with an incredible amount of variety when it comes to enemies, weapons, and missions. Of course, there are a few downsides like the lack of series staples such as a time limit and memorable boss fights. Anyway, I already reviewed this ridiculous game so read my full Dead Rising 4 review if you'd like to know more about Frank's most recent hijinks.
Frank Rising was the debut DLC pack for Dead Rising 4 and it allows you to play as Frank in zombie form. It met a lot of criticism due to its less varied gameplay, short length, and often unfair difficulty but there's no denying that it provides an interesting twist on the classic Dead Rising formula. Frank's zombie abilities are pretty fun to use and they include spraying toxic vomit everywhere, screaming to stun nearby foes, and leaping a great distance to take out your prey. There are some pretty nifty challenges, too, and a lot of them. Again, I already reviewed this pack so head over to my full Frank Rising review if you'd like to read more about it.
Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf
Even though Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf has been out for a while, I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Upon enjoying a few rounds, I can easily say that what's here isn't the best golf experience but it is quite fun once you get used to the unconventional and somewhat stiff gameplay. The courses look awesome and are full of Capcom paraphernalia which provides a layer of charm that I wasn't expecting. Playing solo is okay but if you invite a few friends to play with you then it can be a blast. That is, after everyone gets used to the gameplay. Overall, this is a fun addition and I appreciate the fact that the developers made something unique.
List of Capcom Heroes costumes
- Mega Man X
- Viewtiful Joe
- M. Bison
- Adam the Clown
- Zombie Frank
- Jill Valentine
Capcom Heroes is basically the story campaign but with added costumes that grant Frank character-specific attacks. You'll eventually unlock 16 bonus character costumes that can change up the gameplay dramatically via cool weapons and devastating special moves. If you haven't played through the campaign yet, I highly recommend jumping straight into Capcom Heroes mode as it's the same thing but amplifies the fun factor a great deal, especially if you're a long-time Capcom fan such as myself. I should mention that although this content is new, it will also be available for the original game so anyone can enjoy all this Capcom craziness.
Frank has a Big Package and I'm glad that he can now show it off to his fans. There's so much content in this Dead Rising 4 release that if you missed it on Xbox One and consider yourself a fan then it's a definite must-buy.
