If you ever wanted to run your own dating agency then here's a game for you. Kitty Powers' Matchmaker may look gaudy and tasteless but it's quite an engaging experience that'll shoot Cupid's arrow straight into your heart.
You play Kitty Powers' Matchmaker by setting people up on dates then helping one of them via an earpiece while they're out for dinner. Being able to do so effectively relies on a surprising amount of factors that'll test your ability to memorize information as well as use your instincts to make people fall in love. During these dates, you'll have to focus and put your memorization skills to the test. To elaborate, knowing your client's astrological sign or their date's interests may come in handy during certain points of the date. Therefore, you'll have to acquaint yourself with both parties to the best of your ability before the two meet. On top of these basics, you'll play many various mini-games such as observing a dessert cart, spinning a wheel to get away with telling lies, calculating how much tip to leave, and remembering what the waiter looks like. There's so much to do that you definitely can't play passively as focusing on every detail is the key to success. v1d30chumz 54-211-101-93
Kitty Powers herself acts as your boss and she's quite a lovely yet ultimately goofy host. Reading her quotes at loading screens constantly cracked me up. For example, "I have jiggle physics, but on all the wrong parts!" I even came across a reference to Thomas Was Alone. Her silly British accent makes her one-liners all the more enjoyable as she butts in throughout each date. Without her, Kitty Powers' Matchmaker surely wouldn't be as fun. When you combine her sassy attitude with all of the ridiculous moments that unfold, you're left with a game that'll make you regularly laugh out loud as you match people up and grow your agency.
As you get men and women, women and women, and men and men to fall in love, you'll gain reputation points, money, and experience. Having a higher reputation grants you sweeter rewards while levelling up expands your agency which grants you additional features in the process. Money allows you to buy new restaurants, ways to customize your characters, and more pages of Kitty Powers' little black book of potential dates. As you work through, you'll uncover more mini-games, ways for people to bond, topics of conversation, and types of people such as hippy, hipster, edgy, arty, chic, and geek. Amassing a wealth of these features makes gameplay very rewarding and diverse which adds tons of replay value, especially for perfectionists.
Obviously, Kitty Powers' Matchmaker isn't for everyone. If you think the concept and visuals are cheesy then you'll probably find the overall experience to be unbearable. Even if you enjoy this sort of cheeky fun (like I do) then the game loop of going on dates becomes repetitive after witnessing dozens of rendezvous. Even though I was addicted, the fun factor died down after a couple hours or so. For one thing, you can only have clients go on dinner dates. I wish there was a variety of dating scenes like watching a film, having a picnic, or going dancing. Those types of situations would add so many more opportunities for fun mini-games, too.
Kitty Powers' Matchmaker is a surprisingly addictive game that's full of tacky fun and genuinely amusing scenarios. So, flush your inhibitions down the drain and get ready to have a fabulous time playing Cupid in your very own dating agency.
