Nintendo's Switch is just over 3 years old so I figured I'd celebrate its belated anniversary with a look at its best RPGs so far.

Grandia HD Collection

The first 2 Grandia games are timeless gems that I still love playing to this day. Thankfully, you can enjoy them both in 1 convenient package for Switch with improved visuals and plenty of other enhancements. There are 2 massive adventures waiting to be enjoyed here so make sure that you set aside a huge chunk of time before teaming up with Justin and Ryudo.

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition

Before playing Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition, I didn't know what to expect as it simply looked like your average PC RPG that was ported to console. Wow, was I wrong! It's an incredibly deep and rewarding experience featuring a story and world that adapts to how you play through it, a challenging SRPG combat system, and a dark sense of humour that I personally love.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is one of the best (if not, the best) entries in Intelligent Systems' long-running turn-based strategy RPG franchise. This sequel really hits home with its difficult decision-making and sense of loss yet the gameplay is as satisfying as ever with plenty of streamlined and fine-tuned elements which makes it a joy to play from start to finish.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

Sure, Atelier Ryza isn't as popular as many of the games on this list but that doesn't mean that it isn't amazing. In fact, it's one of the best RPGs that I've ever played as it features an amazing cast of characters, super-rewarding gameplay mechanics, and a gorgeous world that's highly enjoyable to explore. Throw in a stellar soundtrack and you're left with one jaw-dropping RPG.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition

You know that the Switch has a phenomenal lineup of RPGs if Dragon Quest XI S is #6 on our list. Although the original was a great and memorable RPG, this Definitive Edition really put it over the top by incorporating the 3DS version gameplay style and oodles of enhancements. If you only play 1 version of Dragon Quest XI, I highly recommend checking it out on Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a masterpiece. With a combat system that'll keep you on the edge of your seat, an epic story that's full of incredible characters, a huge awe-inspiring open world with tons of distinct locales, a top-notch musical score, loads of content to master and goodies to discover, and gorgeous anime-style visuals; it truly is everything you could want in an RPG.

Dark Souls Remastered

Even though it's been out since 2011, the original Dark Souls remains my favourite FromSoftware action RPG. They simply got everything right with its elaborately-designed world, grueling array of monstrous enemies and bosses, and a pitch-perfect atmosphere throughout. It feels a bit strange playing it on a Nintendo console but I consider Dark Souls Remastered a must-have nonetheless.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore

Originally releasing on Wii U back in 2016, Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE has found a surprisingly niche fan base despite its awesomeness. In other words, those who love it do so wholeheartedly and, believe it or not, some even consider it one of the greatest RPGs ever made. It's such an awesome experience that it perplexes me as to how it hasn't garnered a wider audience. From its imaginative premise to its intricate systems and its fantastic characters to its fun combat; I highly recommend giving Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore a try.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Here's yet another port of a timeless RPG. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch captivated gamers with its heartfelt story, astounding orchestral soundtrack, and monster recruitment system. Plus, being able to enjoy it on Switch is the cat's pajamas. So, go on an epic adventure with the adorable yet steadfast Oliver as he meets a charming cast of chums on his journey to save his mum.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

As far as I'm concerned, Final Fantasy XII is the greatest game in the iconic RPG franchise and The Zodiac Age is simply a masterpiece of a remake. As if the original wasn't amazing enough with its wide open world, hundreds of hours of content, and gripping story; this remake adds oodles of greatness to the equation such as a job system and a completely reorchestrated score. When I think of top-notch RPGs, I think Final Fantasy XII and if you were to ask me what the best remake of all time is, I'd say it's The Zodiac Age.
